SARASWATI PUJO

MAY GODDESS SARASWATI BLESS ALL!!!

Dear Goddess and readers, please forgive if this post hurts any of the sentiments.

Saraswati Pujo in NIT Durgapur is celebrated with great fervour. A holiday (though every day spent in college becomes a holiday at some or the other point of life) which is eagerly awaited by ppl.

For most of the people the day is remembered as "Saraswati Puja - the day when boys r allowed to enter LH".Its hard 2 believe for the first years but they soon find out that its not such a thing to crave for as they spend more time in the college.

besides the actual rituals, the other things that take place on the paricular day are - the most number of camera clicks and number of dress changes of the year.

While many boys are interested in DEVIYON KE DARSHAN over DEVI DARSHAN, girls put on weight by wearing sarees and heavy make ups. some of the guys (especially the committed ones) like to offer PUSHPANJALI to the girl of their choice, rather than offering it to the Goddess.
once in an year, the girls find the chance to invite ppl to their hostels and they need to look like good hosts (rather ghosts).and not to forget the follow up of series of redundant questions like " hw am i looking?", "does this saree suit me?"..

One can find all the available models of digicams on the day. numerous camera clicks which perhaps later become part of special memories. meanwhile, the couples are busy preparing each others' portfolios and are unaware of whats happening around.

Its a gr8 thing to celebrate the day as far as the sanctity of the occasion is maintained.

whatever the views of ppl may be, the day is remembered as it brings smiles including the artificial ones. After all it is a part of life at NITD.
